• Solar is only for environmentalists

MYTH: While solar panels and systems are sought by those who embrace the conservationist movement, it is also a technology to be embraced by anyone who wants to save money and be entitled to rebates and other financial incentives.

• Batteries are needed to store the electricity

MYTH: Since your solar system is connected to your electrical grid, you are drawing on that power at night. When your energy cycles back to the grid you receive credit for it, it doesn’t get stored in batteries.

• When the power goes out, my home is still powered

MYTH: As a safety precaution to workers fixing a power outage, grid-tied systems go out when the power goes out. When your inverter gets the signal about power loss, it will shut your system off too.

• Solar technology will eventually bring solar costs to $1/watt
